F.A.Q's

  • Can I give you my own photograph to work by?
Yes! I actually prefer that. You and your pet know each other best and can get a more natural looking photo.  You can send me either a jpeg image by email or a print by snail mail. The more photos you have for me to use, the better. Make sure your photos are nice and clear and that the subject fills the whole frame of your picture. The more detailed the photo, the more detailed your portrait will be.

  • What is the best way to photograph my pet?
A picture that is taken at your pet's eye level works best. Outdoor, natural lighting is also preferable but if taken indoors, try avoid using a flash. When your pet is relaxed or in a happy, content mood, it's easier to capture a good picture of them. Profile shots and 3/4 view shots work very well. Please do not send a photo that is copyrighted by a professional photographer.

  • How long will it take you to complete my portrait?
Please allow up to two weeks for your portrait to be completed. Larger sized portraits may take a little longer. If you are ordering a portrait to give as a birthday or holiday gift, it's recommended that you place your order at least several weeks before the actual date needed.

  • Can I order a portrait of my hamster, or do you only draw dogs and cats?
Hamsters, horses, and any other pet, small or large can be made into a pet portrait! As long as I have clear photos to work from, your pet portrait can be created with either whole body views for very small pets such as hamsters, or head/neck/shoulder views for larger pets. Please feel free to contact me for any question you may have about your pet's portrait!

  • Can I have both of my dogs in one portrait?
Absolutely! The minimum portrait size for two pets such as two dogs or a dog and a cat is 11 x 14. Up to three subjects can be in one portrait. For pricing guidelines, please see my Pricing/Ordering page. The prices listed are for one subject, then add $15.00 for each additional subject. Contact me for a quote and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
